About the Course
Scarborough North Cliff Golf Club is a varied coastal and parkland course set above Scarborough’s North Bay. The layout begins on exposed clifftop ground before moving inland through mature trees and woodland, then returns towards the coast for its closing holes.
The course was shaped by five-time Open champion James Braid after the club moved to its present site, opening there in 1928. Its par-72 layout measures around 6,450 yards from the white tees, but the main challenge comes from narrow playing lines, established trees and the changing coastal wind rather than length alone.
Scarborough North Cliff rewards accurate driving and sensible positioning. The inland holes can leave restricted approaches after a missed fairway, while the exposed sections require careful club selection and good control of ball flight.
