About the Course
Cleveland Golf Club is a traditional links course set beside the North Sea at Redcar. Established in 1887, it is regarded as the oldest golf course in Yorkshire, with Old Tom Morris, Harry Colt and Donald Steel all contributing to the layout during its history.
The course plays across firm, exposed links land where wind direction can significantly change the character of each hole. Its relatively flat terrain makes it comfortable to walk, but strategically placed bunkers, thick rough and small targets place a premium on controlled ball striking. From the back tees, the par-72 course measures 6,921 yards, providing a demanding test when the coastal weather is against you.
Cleveland rewards golfers who keep the ball in play and adjust their approach to the conditions. It is a genuine North East links course where accuracy, trajectory control and sensible course management are often more valuable than distance alone.
